11 Days Chinese Tea Culture Tour-Green Tea

Day 1: Arrive Shanghai (no meal)

Arrive Shanghai Pudong airport. Our representative will greet you outside the luggage claim and transfer you to hotel. Remainder of the day is free at leisure.


Day 2: Day tour to Yixing (B, L, D)
This morning, you’ll take a 2.5-hour drive to Yixing, a city
famous for its pottery. Your first stop is a purple-sand-teapot workshop. Here, you’ll meet pottery masters & artists who will show you how to appreciate and use this type of teapot, and they will make a teapot on site. 

Then you’ll visit the Yixing Pottery Museum and the ancient kiln where teapots used to be fired. Yixing was also well-known during the Tang Dynasty for its Tribute Tea, called “Yang Xian Tea”, so you’ll have chance to walk trough a factory where Yang Xian Tea was produced & try some local tea there.

Day 3: Day tour to Changxing (B, L, D)
After a 1.5-hour driving, you’ll get to a beautiful bamboo forest that surrounds Changxing City. You will first visit the Great Tang Dynasty Tribute Tea Museum. A stunning tea monument was built here as a replica of the Tang Dynasty’s imperial tea factory (8th Century). Then you’ll have lunch at a Purple Bamboo master’s family. The master will take you on a hike deep into the forest and up into his ancient tea gardens on Gu Zhu Mountain. You’ll see how Purple Bamboo is made here.

Day 4: Day tour to Anji (B, L, D)

This day is all about Anji, which is 1.5-hour driving distance from Changxing. Anji is famous for its green teas (Anji White Tea) and a thriving bamboo industry. You’ll meet a tea master who will help you judge different types of Anji tea and learn how to mak
e Anji White Tea. Lunch will be in a countryside tea garden. You’ll taste a variety of bamboo shoot dishes prepared in different ways. 

Then we’ll drive through the bamboo forest where much of the film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” was filmed.  A tea master will hike with us up the mountain to visit the mother bush of Anji White Tea. Dinner is at a famous tea house in Anji County, where much of the food is cooked with tea.

Day 5: Day tour to Huzhou (B, L, D)
This morning you’ll drive to visit Lu Yu’s Tomb at Miao Xi Temple near Huzhou (1.5-hour driving from Anji). Lu Yu, who is considered China’s “Tea Saint,” is the author of the “Tea Sutra”—the first book on tea and tea culture written in the Tang Dynasty. Then we’ll drive to Nanxun ancient water town, an incredibly beautiful place lined with canals and renowned for its affluence during the Qing Dynasties. Merchants in Nanxun built their wealth in the silk trade. And rich families built houses using architectural techniques that are hard to find elsewhere in China.

Day 6: Day tour to Deqing (B, L, D)
This morning we’ll take a 1.5-hour driving to Deqing County, which is famous for Mo Gan Huang Ya (Yellow Tea Bud on Mogan Mountain), a rare yellow tea grown in Zhejiang Province. You will meet one of the best tea masters at the tea plantation. Then you’ll visit a wetlands environmental area in Dajing town that’s famous for bird watching, and take a short cruise on the lake.

Day 7: Hangzhou (B, L, D)
Today, we’ll leave Deqing and make a short drive to Hangzhou (1.5 hours), a beautiful city that is popular with Chinese and foreign tourists alike. Hangzhou is known as the Tea Capital of China. You’ll visit a respected
Dragon Well tea master, and visit his gardens. Then we’ll continue to the Hangzhou Tea Museum to meet a famous tea expert from the International Tea Culture Institute. You’ll stay in the Landison Longjing Resort, which is located in the Dragon Well Mountain by the tea plantation. 


Day 8: Hangzhou (B, L, D)
This morning, you’ll take a short cruise on West Lake,
which is a symbol of Hangzhou as well as one of the most beautiful sights in China. Then you’ll have a chance to visit the Six Harmonies Pagoda and Lingyin Temple, one of the biggest and most famous ancient Buddhist temples in China. Here you will learn about how tea and Buddhism are intertwined. If time permits, you can also take a leisure visit to the wholesale silk market and Song Dynasty streets. You’ll have chance to drink some tea & enjoy a tea ceremony at a local teahouse.


Day 9: Hangzhou (B)

Today is a free day to enjoy your leisure time in the Landison Longjing Resort. Birds sing and tea exude fragrance at the resort, fairy and tranquility in hustle that experiences rarely found in the city. Discover a unique location that will allow you to enjoy a fresh and nature events, you will be immersed into the sights, sounds and tastes of an outside paradise. You can also take part in the tea culture activities arranged by the hotel, such as Yoga, Taichi class, Home massage or tea ceremony.


Day 10: Shanghai (B, L, D)

This morning return to Shanghai by bullet train (1st class seats). Then have a short city tour to Yuyuan Garden & the old town area. You can also take a stroll along the lively waterfront, known as the “Bund”.


Day 11: Departure (B)

You are at leisure till transfer to airport for departure flight.
